Most of us are familiar with comparing nutrition labels of similar products in the aisle of the grocery store.
We make decisions about which item to buy based on its nutrition and its price. But what if you also knew the environmental cost of your product? If two products were identical but one had a lower impact. Which of the two would you buy?
Carbon Labeling is a step in that direction. The premise is that a carbon label gives the total emissions released, in creating that product, along the entire supply chain. From the extraction of raw resources to the product's disposal. This not only allows consumers the option to make informed decisions on the products they use. It also gives companies a tangible number in which they can work to offset.
Some major companies have already begun implementing the process.
